Content Policy

When you explicitly check in, your open task text can appear on someone else’s live stream, at size, in front of their audience. That is the point of the overlay — and it is why this policy is short and firm.

Not allowed

• Slurs and hate speech — attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender identity or disability.
• Harassment — targeting or threatening a specific person, including the streamer or other viewers.
• Personal information — anyone’s real name, address, workplace or contact details, including your own.
• Sexual content involving minors, or explicit content generally. These are coworking streams.
• Advertising and links — an overlay is not an ad slot. Links are automatically masked.
• Impersonation — pretending to be the streamer, a moderator, or another viewer.

Allowed

Ordinary swearing in your own task is fine. “fix the damn build” is a real task and we’re not going to censor it. The line is drawn at content that attacks someone or that a streamer couldn’t safely put on screen.

How it’s enforced

Automatically. Links are masked and a blocklist of slurs is filtered before anything renders publicly. This is a floor, not a guarantee — automated filters always lose to someone determined.

By moderators. Any moderator or the broadcaster can remove someone from the overlay instantly with !uncheckin, or block them from the community with !block. Their judgement about their own community is final.

By us. Serious or repeated abuse across communities can result in a global block from monotask entirely.

Note on filtering

Filtering happens when content is displayed publicly, not when you save it. Your own task list is yours; what appears on a stream is subject to this policy. A blocked word means your task is masked on the overlay, not deleted.

Reporting

Tell a moderator in the community first — they can act immediately. For something serious, or behaviour spanning several communities, email hello@monotask.bot.

For streamers

This is the floor, not a ceiling. Your community, your standards — set stricter rules and moderate accordingly. The tools are yours to use.
